An ultrasound scan, is a safe and painless medical imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the inside of the body.  It is widely known for being used to image a baby in pregnancy but can also be used to visualise the solid organs and tissues in the body including, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, spleen, bladder, uterus, ovaries, thyroid, testes and soft tissue lumps and bumps.

The sonographer will check your personal details (name and date of birth) to ensure they are correct on your images.  A history of any symptoms (if any) will be taken and noted.  Ultrasound gel will be applied to your skin and the ultrasound transducer (probe) will be gently pressed over your skin.  The sonographer will be quiet as they store your images as they have to concentrate.  After your scan is finished the sonographer will discuss any results with you and give you an opportunity to ask any questions.  You will receive a hard copy of your report (if included in your session) as well as a digital copy of your report and any images.

During your session, the sonographer may seem quiet as they focus on gathering the necessary images. This is to ensure they provide the most accurate scan possible. Once the scan is complete, they will discuss their findings with you (if applicable) and give you the opportunity to ask any questions. If anything concerning is detected, you will be referred to the appropriate healthcare professional for further evaluation.

We would recommend that all clients pass share their copy of their ultrasound report with their GP.

Our obstetric scans are non-diagnostic and are primarily intended for bonding with your baby. However, if the sonographer notices anything they are concerned about during the scan, they will direct you to the appropriate healthcare professional for further evaluation.

The preparation for each scan may vary, and the specific instructions should be included in your booking email. However, if you're unsure or have any questions, it's best to check the website under the scan you have booked or feel free to call us, and we’ll be happy to provide guidance.

A transvaginal ultrasound scan is a type of scan specifically used to examine a woman's reproductive organs, including the uterus, ovaries, endometrium (lining of the womb), and fallopian tubes. It involves using a small ultrasound probe, which is inserted into the vagina to provide clearer and more detailed images of these areas than an abdominal ultrasound may offer.

It's completely understandable to feel some hesitation or concern about undergoing a transvaginal ultrasound, and there will be no pressure to proceed if you're not comfortable. Your comfort and well-being are our priority, and we are happy to answer any questions you may have.

In certain cases, we would not undertake a transvaginal ultrasound, including for individuals under the age of 18 or if you have never been sexually active.

We ask that you attend the clinic a minimum of five minutes before your appointment time. This allows us to check you in, confirm your details and let your Sonographer know you have arrived.

If you arrive late for your appointment, please be aware that we may not be able to fit you in as our clinic operates a strictly appointment-only basis. We have set schedules to ensure that all our clients receive the attention they need, and delays can affect not only your time, but also the appointments of others. We kindly ask for your understanding that we may need to reschedule your appointment.

If you fail to attend your appointment without prior notice, the deposit will be retained to cover the missed session.

Please be aware that during peak times, such as mornings, school home time and evenings, traffic can be heavy. We recommend allowing extra time for your journey to account for potential delays

If you can’t make it for any reason please contact us and we will rearrange with the closest possible appointment suitable for you.

You have the right to cancel your service with us or change your mind. All we ask is that you cancel within a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to your scheduled appointment. You will need to contact our clinic to process the £30 deposit paid if you have cancelled within the appropriate timeframe.

If you fail to attend your appointment without prior notice, the deposit will be retained to cover the missed session.

You do not need a referral to have a scan at our clinic. However, if you do have a referral from your GP, you are welcome to bring it with you, as it may provide insight into any symptoms you are experiencing.
